About Us

Our vision

Spaaza is a Customer Data Platform with a set of tools to create great shopping experiences across devices and channels.

Traditional retail marketing tools are not targeted and are channel-specific making them ineffective in the new shopping environment, where a single customer journey can take place across online, offline and social channels.

Spaaza starts by connecting online, social and offline customer data to create a unified view of customers. Our customer intelligence tools use this data to give retailers new insight so that can understand and serve customers better and improve existing marketing programs.

Based on this unified profile Spaaza also provides a set of next generation marketing tools that can measurably increase signups, frequency and spend and create better shopping experiences.

All of our tools work wherever a customer shops: in stores, webshops and in staff and customer app.

Our company

Spaaza was founded in 2011 with the aim of making shopping better. We believe in open, honest and results-driven business. We aim to deliver unique products that are simple to use and create real value for retailer and shoppers. We pride ourselves on our customer service and our passion for making our customers more successful.

The name Spaaza comes from the South African word meaning a small or informal shop.

Dave Sevenoaks

Co-Founder and CEO

Dave, our CEO, hails from South Africa. He's obsessed with making great products and is a keen traveller, cook and skier. Dave has a background in social media, mobile and advertising technology. He was Director of Product Management at GyPSii, now part of Sina Weibo, and started and ran the digital business of London Publisher Atalink (Ten Alps PLC). Dave studied Information Systems at the University of Cape Town.

Sam Critchley

Co-Founder and CTO

Sam is an experienced technologist and entrepreneur who's known for his bright socks and booming voice. He co-founded GyPSii, now part of Sina Weibo and before that created A2B, one of the first location-based mobile apps. Sam ran a network engineering team at UUNET, putting in place the infrastructure that the internet runs on in Europe. He studied Philosophy and French at Kings College London.
